Greetings from Tim, Mark, Adam, Ben & John
Gentleman's Dinner
The club house was full on Saturday for the gentleman's dinner. Following a four course meal the guest were welcomed by the first speaker Cameron Sinclair. The Club Captain Malcolm Watkins followed with some humorous stories of slow play then the final speaker was Ian Richards.
In over twenty two years as a full time professional Ian has worked literally all over the world, including The Falklands, Ascension Isles, Germany, Belgium, Florida, Spain, Holland & France. He has made over 500 appearances for the British Forces on the mainland alone and appeared in Summer Showst. Ian has been carving out a well recognised and respected niche in the after dinner market, establishing himself as one of the most in demand performers on the circuit today. Ian presented some very funny fresh material. The whole evening was held together by MC Club secretary Peter Walsh who also added some funny stories.
The Greenstaff last week received new machinery - Toro Procore. This allows them to tine the greens with the smallest tine possible, allowing for quicker recovery and very little disruption to the playing surface for members.
The 12th tee is now completed with some tidying work left to do and the buggy path up to the 13th tee is to be finished.
Ladies Captain V Ladies Vice Captain
Tuesdays match was played in sun shine with the Captains team in Blue and the vices team in red it was a colourful affair, with the winning team in red.
In the shop we are receiving this year's Ladies' stock of shoes and gloves with clothing soon to follow. This week's focus is on gloves, fit is very important and so is moisture management. If the gloves absorb too much moisture it offers very little in grip and fit. Here are two gloves highlighted for 2014:
On the left the FootJoy attitudes offers excellent comfort, performance and designm whilst on the right the FootJoy StaCooler with aloe vera and meshing allows the hand to breathe easily and helps to avoid the dreaded "golfer's white hand" during summer months.

London Marathon
Members will again this year be running in the London Marathon, some for charity and some to better their personal best. Club member Andrew Nicholson is running his first while brother Duncan will be trying to better his best time. Andrew emailed us this week,
"I have done all my long training runs - just a couple of short ones this week and a gentle sports massage to hopefully get me to the start line as fit as I can be! I am excited but also nervous about the marathon and it is going to be a great help to me that my brother Duncan will be running with me and that family and friends will be around the course supporting us both. But you can help too - for those that have already replied and/or sponsored me thank you very much. Please if you haven't go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AndrewNicholson10 and see why I am running the marathon and, if you can, donate some money. I will be very grateful. Your support will help me get round and will benefit the charity I am supporting greatly. Thank you all."
And finally
Enjoy your late night viewing this week. I think this week we all feel like the golf season really starts. Who's is your pick for the top of the leader board Sunday evening?
