Tim made a return to work this week following his hip operation. Tim has only made the range and back so far, but is walking short distances without the aid of crutches!
Champions Dinner
It was another good night at the Golf club for the Champion's dinner and presentations hosted by Competitions Chairman Andrew Nicholson.
The three course meal was followed by the seasons Trophies being presented to the winners by Ladies Captain Sally Savage. Each winner received a commemorative glass and a photograph with their trophy taken in the reading room by Brian Ball.
The biggest haul of trophies went to Matthew Myers who thanked the club and its committees and volunteers' for another successful season at our club.
North Cup
I am pleased to inform you that the NCGC retained the North Cup away at Harlestone this year. In damp conditions, but warm hospitality the result was a close fought battle.
Dick Zielinski (Capt) and Peter Thompson won 1 up David Green and David Goodrham won 2 and 1 Quentin Wade and Richard Bailey won 1 up Brian O'Connell and Laurie Johnson lost 4 and 3 Peter Noble and Greg Savage lost 2 and 1 Colin Miles and David Alston lost 2 and 1
The match ended up a draw but NCGC retain the cup as a result of winning last year.
Winter league
The first round of this year's men's winter league was a wet one as it rained most of the morning. The top ten scores can be seen by clicking here, where Adam Naylor and David Thomas are in the lead by 1 point.
Ladies
The Ladies section had a good turn out for 10th November Stableford with 53 cards being returned. Cecelia Edwards won overall with 38 pts closely followed by Division 1 winner Diana Murkin on 37 pts. Venessa Barrow won Division 2 with 35 pts and Andrea Alston was victorious in Division 3 with 36 pts.
The winter programme is in full swing now, although with the grass still growing, alot of time is still being spent cutting grass.

Continue to lift turf on path ends STRI work around 4th bell and gorse. Leaf collecting as often as possible.
Greens
- HOC 4mm, Groomers set at 3mm. HOC raised to 4.5mm 9/11/2015 - Mowing 2-3 days a week. Hand cutting when possible. - Rolled 1-2 times per week. - Fungicide applied beginning of November. Disease pressure is very high in the current warm and wet weather. - Greens vertidrained, slitting mid-month.
Tees
- HOC 10mm. Will remain at this height through winter. - Application of iron to control moss ingress.
Fairways
- HOC 14mm. - Application of iron. November. - Divot stands brought in. - Fairway aeration to commence 17th November.
