Invitation day

Guests joined members from all over on Saturday,as old school friends, work colleagues, andfriends from other clubs travelled to enjoy ourclub. They were invited for breakfast in theform of tea/coffee and a bacon roll before awarm up on the range and 18 holes. Followingplay, the dining room was busy as a meal wasincluded along with prizes. 

Among the early starters were Jon Edwards withguest Barry Jones, who took first position with44 points. Close behind 43 was Tom Duck withformer junior member Andrew Lynch who is nowbased at Wentworth working for the European Tourin member relations.

Each weekend, a £2 fee per team is taken viacomputer in the Pro Shop - Prize money will bepaid on the Swipe card for 1st and 2nd and 3rdplace in each of the eight Winter LeagueWeekends. Best 4 Stableford scores from amaximum of 8 winter league weekends determineposition in the league table.

Pairs who are not available to play in all thedesignated weekends still have a good chance ofqualifying for the knockout stages. The LeagueTable will be updated after each Winter LeagueWeekend.  

After the completion of the 8 winter leagueweekend Stablefords the top eight pairs in theleague with the highest combined four Stablefordscores qualify for the knockout stages thatstart February 2016.

Peter Walsh

Peter Walsh is retiring as Secretary of theClub, and his last day at work will be Friday,18 September. Following that, Peter and Pennywill be heading to Spain for what we hope willbe a lengthy and enjoyable retirement. 

The management committee has arranged for Peterand Penny to be in the clubhouse from 2.30pm onthat day in order that members can be providedwith the opportunity to say farewell. 

After 13 years in the post, Peter will have muchto recall and many anecdotes to share, so aconvivial afternoon is on the cards. 

You are therefore invited to call in at anytimeduring the afternoon to share in the reminiscingand banter. If you are unable to make thatafternoon, please feel free to drop into theclub at any stage next week to say goodbye.

Ladies Captain Sally Savage held her away day atLeamington County Golf Club last week.

The Race to the Grand Final Order of merit tablehas been updated. It can found on theNorthamptonshire Golf Partnership website by clickinghere. 

There is still a qualifying event left -Kingsthorpe Junior Open on Sunday, 4 October. Toenter contact the club directly. The Grand Finalwill be held at Northamptonshire County onWednesday, 28 October. If you have not qualifiedfor the final, you can still enter and play onthis day in a separate competition supported byMoulton College.
