Seniors' Report - Two fixtures to report on
Firstly, the return match against Frilford Heath at their course took place. This saw the continuance of our games against them for the Brampton Buck.We prevailed by the very good score of 5.5 to 1.5 with some big wins by the individual pairs.Once again the losers on the day remain nameless! The blue course was in very good condition and the greens in particular deserve a special mention.
We therefore came home with Buck trophy and the gross score since the inception of the matches in 1990 is 17 wins to 9 in our favour. Pretty impressive! It makes you wonder how many different seniors have graced those matches over the 26 years!
Secondly we welcomed our friends from Loncliffe. This fixture has a habit of resulting in heavy home wins. Last year I recall we lost 7 to 1 over there and whitewashed them at home! This year saw things being a little more evenly matched. Having lost 5.5 to 2.5 over there, we bounced back with a fine 6 to 2 victory at home.

Finally the Dawn Patrol held another calibration of 50 years of yearly morning golf at Northamptonshire County Golf club with a garden party at Keith Archbold's (past Captain of the club)home in Church Brampton. What a lovely day and event it was!
Last week we had a demonstration of machines at the club, which helped with some of the work that needed to be done.
Unfortunately, the rain pushed back bailing the rough this week. The greens staff will be back on it once it has dried, concentrating on clearing carries, landing areas and the thicker piles.
Other jobs this week include Trimming bunkers, filling divots in landing areas and a start to hedge cutting.
This weekend we look forward to Invitation day, when members can invite their guest to join them here at Northamptonshire County Golf club to enjoy the course, the clubhouse, completion and food. Sunday is the rearranged Deek's Salver that was rained off earlier in the year.
For the low handicap members of the club, the County Open visits us this year. This is 36 holes with the chance to play with the best players in the County. It is a good day out with opportunity to be crowned County Champion. Enter through the NGU web site www.northantsgolfunion.co.uk/opens
Sign up closes at 12:00 pm on 18, September 2015
