Sue Aitken Captain, Scratch League team
The Ladies Scratch League continues to be unbeaten. The latest match was played at Northampton Golf Club on Sunday, 16 August. Information failed to reach the team that the tee time had been altered by an hour so concentration had to be maintained. However the team played extremely well to keep up the 3 - 0 result that they have had all season.
Congratulations to Rachel Smith, Charlotte Taylor and Angela Duck. The next match is at the end of the month on 30 August at Whittlebury Park Golf Club against Northampton Golf Club at 12 noon.
The Lady Captain has been a stalwart supporter all season and it would be good if anyone else with a spare day could come over to Whittlebury to support the girls.
Cecil Leitch Team - Heather Williams Cecil Leitch Captain.
The Cecil Leitch team of Mary Wetherly, Di Murkin, Alison Shine, Louise Hemingway, Laura Steedman, Geeta Patel and Jane Shearer played in the Semi-Final which was held at Collingtree Park golf club last Tuesday.
Sadly we lost to the holders Whittlebury Park by 5 games to 2. All the team tried their best but once again Whittlebury proved to be the stronger team on the day. I should like to take this opportunity of thanking all the girls for playing in the matches this year, they have done very well to get to the Semi-Final and hopefully next year we shall be more successful.

Report from Dennis Walker
Three fixtures have been played in August so far with mixed results. First up was the season's return match at home to Tadmarten Heath. This saw a pretty comprehensive victory under the captaincy of Dennis Sleath 5.5 to 2.5.
Because of a mix-up on the part of the opposition, they only brought a team of 7 pairs so we transferred Roger Street and Ray Kingston to play for them. Roger Brady and Rob Pearman let them off with a half!
Next up was away match at Northampton which ended in a half, with 3 matches each. It was good to have David Adams back after his extended injury period. He supported the match Captain to a victory. There were a couple of heavyish defeats in there but as always we do not name and shame. They know who they are! It has to be said that their course was in fine condition and we were well looked after.
That was followed by our return match at Woburn where we were treated to a match on Marquess. It was as we would expect, and in great nick. A very close game ended in a close defeat 4 to 3. Again, a couple of heavy defeats and there is a common denominator in there. He knows who he is!! A great day was had however a little wet to start with but fine thereafter. Unfortunately as the score was a mirror of the home match where we won by the same score Woburn as holders from last year retained the Brampton Buck. However a review of the trophy shows we are a comfortable way head in the series of matches which date back to 1989.
Finally we visited Burford for the away leg of this year's fixture. This saw our best win of the season, I believe ,with a win 5.5 to 0.5. Captain for the match was Ray Kingston who stood tall throughout only letting himself down with his speech!!
This week on the course, the greens staff will be preparing the course for the Colin Green Open on Saturday. Our Open give us the opportunity to advertise our course to a wide audience of golfers through those that play on the day.
Monday the greens will have been top dressed. Throughout the rest of the week they will be divoting tees and tidy bunker edges.
