Greetings from Tim Rouse | The Pro Shop Northamptonshire County Golf Club, PGA Golf Professional |
Charities win
The Club's Charity ProAm 2015 had a damp start, with members teeing off in a warm drizzle.
The pitching competition on the range, which was open to all members was a great success with one happy winner walking away with a 42" TV. With 8 team prizes, 12 on course prizes for nearest the pin & long drive hit the green challenge at the 15th and hole in one prizes on each par 3 there was lots of winners.
A big thank you too all the sponsors and members who entered teams.
The teams were well watered and fed on the way around, with Doughnuts after the 3rd and a BBQ at the 10th.
The Guide dogs were once again at the 15th looking after the hit the green challenge and the hole in one prize. Unfortunately no one had a Hole in one to win the fantastic prize of a Volvo sponsored by the Car Shop.
At the top of the team leaderboard when everyone finished was the Mitchell Roofing team led by Paul Broadhurst with a score of 9 under Par.
We hope to be able to tell you how much the club has raised for the Charities in next week's news. A big thank you to all the members who volunteered to help raise money on the Charity ProAm Day.

Ladies
According to the quirks of this year's Scratch League arrangements, our Club was due to play only their second match this season. At this stage all the other Clubs in the League have lost at least one match. The matches were due to take place at Peterborough Milton Golf Club and NCGC expected to play the in-form Whittlebury Park.
However, despite the date being in the diary for months, Whittlebury Park had their Club Championship arranged for the day and disappointingly could not raise a team. This gave us a 3-0 win, each match being scored 1up. It was sad not to get the game but happily it leaves us as still the only unbeaten team! Good news!
The team of Charlotte Taylor, Gillian Curley and Susie Barrick were able to have a lie in after all. Sue Aitken, Team Captain
Seniors - Dennis Walker
The seniors hosted Copt Heath GC for the first time last week, with this being one of the additional club fixtures recently introduced. It looks like it is turning out to be a welcome addition given the enjoyable match and day that transpired. Of course it helped that we won!
All of the matches were tight, but we prevailed 5 to 2. Wins for Roger Brady and Peter Darby along with Dennis Walker, Stave Battison, David Alston Paul Phillips, Paul Osborne Bob Andrews and Gordon Seal with Dennis Sleath.
The defeated, as is the way now, remain anonymous.
Once again, a member of our team has been sent to the naughty chair for not wearing the club colours. This time the excuse being something along the lines of his wife not having done the washing! We think he is currently negotiating with the pro for £20 off a shirt instead of the £10 currently on offer in his shop!
A further fixture at home to Wellingborough saw the team take a bit of a beating 4.5 to 1.5. This was an unusually heavy defeat, which saw Wellingborough raise their game significantly with the higher handicappers in particular using their shots, making our boys struggle in the heat.
The sheets for the August matches including the annual get together with the ladies will be posted very shortly. Please get you names down early as selection will take place within the next fourteen days or so.
Handicap League Update
The handicap league team has continued their good form with a recent win over Prior's Hall 17-2. The team has won all 7 of the 7 matches played so far, well done to Antony Elderton and all those involved so far.
