Jack Humphries Trophy
The course was played what we now call the old way around last Saturday for the Foursomes Medal Trophy. Past Captain Jack Humphries was a lover of the course in its original layout and it is played this way each year in his memory.
I think Jack would have been proud of Mark Goodwin while playing out of a tree root on one hole he was unsure if he had hit the ball twice. Subsequently Mark called a penalty on himself costing him and his partner 1st place.
Rule 14-4 - Striking the Ball More Than Once If a player's club strikes the ball more than once in the course of a stroke, the player must count the stroke and add a penalty stroke, making two strokes in all.
1st David Goodrham David Green 67.5
2nd John Draper Roger Street 69
3rd Frank Mallon Richard Jackson 69.5
4th Chris Winters Richard Bailey 70
5th Adam Costain Simon Griffin 70
6th Malcolm Pounds Richard Halliday 71.5
The club has two mens teams in this year's Hollingsworth competition. Sunday's Hollingsworth match away at Daventry was a 2-3 win for our side. The next game is home to Peterborough Milton on 9 May.
Nick Beal and Brian O'Connell won 2&1
Steve Barber and Jeff Winfield lost 6&4
Rhys Taylor and Alan Linney lost 6&5
Simon Richmond and Malcolm Watkins won 3&2
Ross Mason and John McPhee won 8&7
Ladies
The Ladies team of Diana Murkin, Denise Bellamy-Walton, Louise Hemingway, Vanessa Barrow, Sue Lane, Kerry Spooner and Dawn Mallard-Parker had their first Cecil Leitch match of the Season on Monday 27th April , at Home against Cold Ashby. They had a great win of 4 matches to 3 with two of the losing games finishing on the 18th green.
This is a great start and we are now looking forward to our next match against Peterborough Milton on the 15th May.
Seniors Golf - By Roger Street
The Seniors began the new season with a resounding win over Kettering Golf Club at Home by 7 matches to 1. It was good to welcome back to the Seniors fold Neville Morris and Greg Smart. Frank Fitzpatrick did a fine job as Captain for the Day and led the team to victory along with his partner Neville.
Thanks go to John Cordner, Greg Smart and Richard Halliday being called up at the last moment to cover for illness and injuries. The second match of the season at Luffenham Heath took place on Monday, 20 April with the home side just taking the honours in a close fought match by 4.5 games to 3.5.
John Roberts was Match Day Captain and led the side well, and was also complimentary of the Luffenham course which by all accounts was in the best condition for a few years now. He also complimented Luffenham on arranging the match for a 9.30 am tee off, which for those that don't know is not good for this match, meaning our players having to leave home at 7.30 am!

Scotty Cameron Education Day
Thanks to the members who visited our Scotty Cameron Day last Thursday. Those members got to learn more about putter design, the benefits of a milled putter and model suitability depending on your stroke pattern and tendencies. If you missed out and would like to know more, just pop in ask Mark who spent the Day with Titleist's technician.
Every model was on show in 33, 34 and 35 inches ensuring a great choice to choose from, and several members benefited from a custom fitting session with Titleist's technician.

Our junior's have been progressing well over the winter period with summer in mind.
Sunday morning coaching is due to end on May 17th and will then again continue when schools starts back in September.
Coaching sessions have been planned around 9 hole club competitions and the Juniors are seeing the rewards of such a programme with several handicaps dropping and getting ever closer to 18 hole standards.
In the meantime, Mark is putting together plans for Junior Summer Camps throughout the school holidays to continue their development.
Furthermore to these groups, we do have lessons for the smaller juniors; ages are currently 4 - 7 years old.
