It is now official. After over 12 and a half years in post, Peter Walsh and his wife Penny have decided that having recently completed the work on their villa, it is now time for them to retire to Spain this summer. Peter, it has seemed over his years, has been at every club event laughing and joking with members and visitors to our club.
If there was a BBQ around he was behind it, whether it was Family day on the Colt course or Charity Event. On Pro-Am Days he would often spend 7-8 hours cooking after collecting bread from the bakers early that morning. His take on the Champions dinner has made it a special event in recent years, adding history and recent results to each presentation.
Peter also added own insight to this event as he was often the only supporter of our club teams as they reached finals around the country.
On Course this week
The Greens will be Micro tined - Monday/Tuesday
Trimming bunkers, sand replenishment continues, as does the clearing of brambles
Towards end of week machinery will in the rough to rake out and collect.
Last week the new brushes were in action on the course for the first time
The Club have now appointed The Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) to provide the Club's agronomy advice. Their Head Agronomist, Alistair Beggs, and Adam Newton BSc (Hons), MBPR, FQA will be making their first visit to the Club on the 23rd of this month.
With them they bring specialist equipment (pictures below) to test smoothness, bounce, and moisture content of the greens.
