This year's season opener The Captain V Vice Captain match was replaced with Saturdays' Am AM as Club Captain Peter Cooch is still recovering from his recent visit to hospital. We are now back on summer tees and score card, winter rules remain for a short period so please keep your eye on the information boards.
Saturday's Am Am
Saturday's Am Am had a twist to the format; best 2 score's to count on par 4's, best 3 to count on Par 3's and all scores to count on Par 5's. Surely the Par 5 18th had a significant part to play in the results...
1st Mike Wilkinson, Mervin Bateman, Dermot Commins, Chris Moore - 108 £30
2nd Steve Smith, Colin Miles, Ken Stroud, Simon Richmond - 104 £20
3rd Hywel Williams, Paul Gray, Peter Larkins, Jo Larkins - 101 £15
4th Maggie Bland, Pam Oliver, Di Saunderson, Steph Goodings - 101 £10
5th Greg Smart, David Alston, John Forbear, Ray Kingston - 98 £7.50
Winter League
The Weekend Winter League was played last Sunday in bright sunshine at 1.15pm
Steve Reynolds was the referee for the final which was played in a great spirit and went all the way to the 18th.
Brooks & Veitch went 1 up after 2 holes and then 2 up after 6 holes. Richmond & Stroud pulled it back to 1 down at the turn.
Brooks and Veitch were dove tailing well, but it got pulled back to all square after 11 holes. Then on the 13th Stroud and Richmond went 1up after Ken decided to slam dunk his third shot for a birdie. Ken then birdied the 15th and when the final reached the 17th Tee Richmond and Stroud were 2 up with 2 to play.
Brooks & Veitch won the 17th to take the match down the last. However a birdie 4 on the 18th green by Mr Stroud secured the win for Richmond & Stroud 2up.
Congratulations to Ken Stroud & Simon Richmond for winning the Weekend Winter League 2014/2015
Regards, Steve
Congratulations to Sue Aitken and Ele Brooks who won the Gledhill Cup and in doing so managed to retain the title from last year. They were met in this year's final by Kerry Spooner & Geeta Patel and after a hard fought match they managed to come out victorious.
The Management Committee is really pleased and proud to announce that the R&A Open Qualifier will be returning to Northamptonshire County Golf Club in 2018 with the possibility of an additional four years as well.

Northamptonshire County Golf Club Charity Pro-Am - Monday, 13 July 2015
With spring in the air, that means summer is not far away! For many, playing golf during the winter is at best unpleasant and for some unthinkable! With the new season's grass showing signs of life, we can now hopefully look forward to another excellent golfing year.
With that in mind I would like to extend a warm invitation to you to support our superb Charity Pro-Am. As always we aim to ensure that we provide a first rate golfing challenge whilst also supporting local charities that help people in their time of need. Last year's event was a massive success with a broad range of businesses competing and just short of £10,000 raised for local good causes!
We are fortunate to have the support of two new Sponsors this year, Car Shop, and Tyres Northampton, with continued support from Olympus Care Services, Arjo Wiggins Creative Papers, Cotters Insurance, Ocee Design, Olympus Cameras, Jeffrey-West Men's Shoes, Nat West, Phil Beswick, and TaylorMade.
To stage an event of this quality we are always looking for other potential sponsors, so if you'd like your business to be associated with the most prestigious golf club in Northamptonshire, and the South Midlands, please contact me, details are shown below.
If you'd like to enter this year's Pro-AM please fill out an entry form and either mail it or e-mail back to the address detailed below. We recommend you enter early as places are limited. We look forward to seeing you on the golf course!
