New course manager appointed

The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Hay as their new Course Manager, who has now started his role.  

Rob joins us from Shirland, in Derbyshire where he was appointed Course Manager in 2011. Previously he had worked at Dalmahoy, Royal Porthcawl and Royal Birkdale. Rob was awarded the Top Sports' Turf Student award at Myerscough College where he achieved a distinction in his National Diploma in Turf Science and Sports' Turf Management.

A distinction was also obtained in his NVQ level 2 in Amenity Horticulture. He is an avid supporter of fast running fairways, firm fast greens and the regeneration of heathland.

Amongst the foul weather, there have been some great days for golf where the course looks magnificent. There is just over 3 weeks until the Summer Course opens once again and evenings start getting lighter, ideal for playing a few holes after work.

Thursday Stableford

Once again weather for a Thursday's competition was trying but that did not hold back Stephen Denbeigh who scored a very impressive 41 points to win overall. The only other player to better their handicap on the day was Hywell Williams who won Division 1 as a result.

The Greenstaff continue to work hard to ensure the course is in excellent condition for the coming season. This week they will finish putting sand in 4th bunkers, tidy and move sand in other bunkers to improve consistency as well as seeding the river bank on the 15th, levelling and seeding drainage lines.
