Bad weather did not stop Moss
Members suddenly developed bad backs and illness last Thursday as the weather forecasters predicted stormy weather. 67 players still managed to return cards with a CSS= 71 (35 points) on the day. Leigh Moss proved himself a worthy winner battling through the wind and rain for 40 points and reducing his handicap from 12 to 11.
Leigh has dedicated himself to improving his golf in recent months having just retired as a radiologist at Northampton General Hospital. Leigh is best known for his services to breast cancer treatment and pioneering the use of medical scanners.

Atlantic Cup
Since 2004, the club has played against Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pennsylvania for the Atlantic Cup. The home team has always been victorious in keenly fought matches.
This event was the brainchild of Tim Rouse, who met his counterpart Gary Hardin during 2003. In 2004 Peter Lock, our Club Captain built upon the idea and led a team of 16 to the USA for the inaugural match. In 2005 the Americans visited us for the first time, and since then the match has been played every other year on a home and away basis.
This year it is our turn to go to America, and the dates are from 21st - 29th September. This is a very good week away, playing competitive golf, socialising and making new friends.
At this stage we are looking for players (gentlemen only, sorry ladies) to join the team in an effort to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to fulfil the fixture, with the implications that this could have for the future of the event.
We are having an open evening in the Clubhouse, at 7.00pm on Thursday 5th March. Anyone who might be considering joining the team is welcome to come along and discuss any aspect of the trip. If you wish to learn more in the meantime, please give me a call.
Golfers of all abilities, whether young or more mature are welcome to travel, the golf in America is played in Buggies, or Carts as they call them, which enables the less fit golfer to play several rounds over the week. I do hope that there will be sufficient interest amongst the membership to keep this event going.

Thank you,
David Green
There is a buggy ban at present, for updated statuses please visit the Club's website. This week the greenstaff will also Aerate the greens, this allows for better growth and will improve their overall quality.
