It is with regret that I have to start with sad news this week.
Peter Palmer OBE, the club's oldest member sadly passed away last week, just short of his 103rd birthday in March.
Peter served as club Captain for 2 years in 1947 & 48. During his term as captain he organised the planting of the spinneys between the first and eighteenth fairways and behind the first and fifteenth greens. Peter was also a keen rugby player and supporter having made his debut for the Saints back in 1930, some 24 years after his father Harry Claude captained the Saints. One of his many wins on the course was the Burn Cup in 1948 during his captaincy.
The scoring was impressive for Saturday's Texas Scramble, with nett 56.75 only managing to get 5th place. Well done to David Stock, Tim Carpenter, Gerald McKay and Thomas Goodman who won with nett 56.
