Hello Golfers,

Hopefully, you’ve had the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather of late and get out on the golf course for a round of golf. Each week we seem to get a little closer to golf as we used to know it. This week the range returned to full use and 3 & 4 ball times were released.

In the shop, we remain open for business but closed for another week. We are operating a collection service from the shop so we should still be able to supply you with all your golfing needs. See below.

This week’s email is packed full of great features. Be sure to scroll down to the Video of the Week to see some amazing Harry Houdini moments from the European Tour. We’re also talking wedges, landing spots when chipping, and we have our monthly quiz for you to give a go (this might just be our best yet!).

Before the rain came this week the course staff have been out hand watering dry spots on the course.

On the range

Monday the driving range returned to normal use with the exception of baskets and times.

The range will open at 8am and close at 6pm.

Sanitised baskets can be collected from the Pro shop with the purchase of tokens. £1 per 20 ball token.

Marker
New markers 

A big thank you to Callaway who have sponsored the new range markers. The first of the markers went in this week.

Coaching on the range is one to one following the guidelines. With the opening up of the range, please check in at the Pro shop collect your tokens and a basket before your session.

Rain may cause problems for us over the coming week as guidelines are to coach outside.  If it is raining please check in with us by phone before you travel. We are trying to work under the rain cover but this may not work for all the coaching.

Thoughts for the course

Chipping is a fine art. It requires precision and skill, both of which may need sharpening after a few months away from the golf course. No shame in that! So, here are a couple of points to remember.

Landing spots when chipping

Landing Spots

Don’t focus on the hole. Instead, pick out a spot – a patch of grass on the green – to land your ball on. Consider how the slope and speed of the green, the lie of the ball and the club you choose may affect where the ball finishes after landing.

Practise makes perfect

When on the chipping green, place a towel on your landing spot (as seen in the above image) and take aim. As you get the hang of it, you can fold the towel to give yourself a smaller, more challenging target to work with.
