Competition news

Weekend Stableford

The Stableford at the weekend was won by Rod Goodman with an excellent 42 points.  Congratulations to all our divisional winners:

Division 1

1st – Lee Ault – 40 Points (cb)
2nd – Simon Richmond – 40 Points
3rd – Harry Larkins – 39 Points

Division 2

1st – Rod Goodman – 42 Points
2nd – Andrew Rudkin – 41 Points
3rd – Akin Akinwumi - 40 Points (cb)
4th - Simon Turner – 40 Points (cb) 

Division 3

1st – Frank Fitzpatrick – 39 Points
2nd – Andrew Gordon – 38 Points (cb)

This weekend we have the final Weekend Winter League with the top 8 then progressing into the match play stages.  Good luck to everyone taking part.

 
Ladies news

Ladies Greensomes

The ladies held a Greensomes on Tuesday over 18 and 9 holes.  Winners as follows:

18 Hole Winners

1st - S McRae & G Patel - 41 Points
2nd - D Brady & E Brooks - 32 Points
3rd - M Henderson & P Oliver - 32 Points
4th - A Alston & D Bellamy -Walton - 31 Points

Course news

The course staff have been busy this week. All the greens are hand cut at this time of year

The replacement steps are being installed at the 7th tee this week

Scrub clearance continues around the course. The scrub was cleared to the left of the 10th tee this week letting more air and light into an area that had become very shaded
 
Junior news

Junior Stableford

A Junior Stableford was held on Sunday and despite the rain, the standard of golf played was extremely high with 3 Juniors shooting 40 points or more!  As a result, Aidan Jaggard, Amy Nunn and Callum Sainsbury all cut their handicaps on the day.  Well done to the top 3 players:

1st – Aidan Jaggard – 42 Points
2nd – Amy Nunn – 41 Points
3rd – Callum Sainsbury – 40 Points

On the green

Does your practise stroke reflect the swing you are about to make?

There is an old saying a putt left short never goes in.

Practise strokes are just that, they should be the rehearsal of the stroke you are about to make.

Try this next time you are practising. Take 3 practise strokes next to the ball you are about to strike. Then address the ball shut your eyes and repeat the last stroke you made. Open your eyes when the ball is on its way and see how good your feel is.

A great practice drill to work on your pace putting.
