Ladies fashion night
Tuesday evening saw us host our Ladies Fashion evening. Members were given the first opportunity to see the full Spring and Summer 2015 ranges from brands such as Green Lamb, adidas, Sunderland and Glenmuir! Ladies joined us for a drink and a browse and for those who ordered a generous discount was given.
Winter Weekend League
The WWL Table has been updated, with 44 pairs taking part in WWL2 and just 4 points separating the top 16 places.
Malcolm Evans & Mick Abbott, an established pair, looked like they were going to be the winners of WWL2.
However Harry Larkins (2) and Matthew Myers (+1) had 8 birdies between them to score 45 points on Sunday and win WWL2 by 1 point. Some familiar faces are starting well.
The winners of last year Steve & Daniel Brightmore and the winners of 2012/ 2013 Paul Harris and Danny Roberts are both in the top 8, and it looks like 160 will not be enough to get into the top 8.
1st Matthew Myers & Harry Larkins 45 points
2nd Malcolm Evans & Mick Abbotts 44 points
3rd on C/B Quentin Wade & Simon Blundell 43 points - better back 6
Please note the computer score for Matthew and Harry stated 44 points, but as Matthew is off +1 the software uses the 12th rather than the 18th as the hole that Matthew would only get 1 point if he got a par. As Matthew got a par on the 12 he gets 2 points rather than the 1 point calculated by the software hence the reason the team score is 45 points.
Who can catch Harry & Matthew ? WWL3 is this weekend November 22nd/23rd November
"During the Weekend Winter League the 15th hole may be out of action. When this happens 2 points will be awarded for that hole
Regards Steve"
Work this week started at the 15th hole with the sleepers being extended along the river bank. While this work is being carried out the 15th hole may be closed.
The first of the new bunkers has been completed at the 5th hole. The new style is actually heavily influenced by the original design of Harry Colt.
The heavy rain of the past week has been a good test for the new drains installed earlier in the year and as you can tell this has had a huge impact on how little rain now flows into the buggy store, keeping the area much tidier and a more welcoming entrance even in the worst of weather.
It was the final fling for 2013/14 Ladies Section Captain Di Murkin last week. Once again the Ladies Captain was lucky with the weather for the competition. The format was relaxed and enjoyed by everyone.
1st Katie Kennedy, Vanessa Barrow, Penny Letten & Sue McRae 78pts
2nd Gillian Curley, Steph Goodings, Heather Williams & Celia Edwards 77pts
3rd Angela Duck ,Lesley Whally, Jennie Pook , Janet Morris 76pts
1st in the 9 hole competition Pat Parsonson, Joyce Bernstein & Diana Arrowsmith 30pts
The Ladies section AGM followed on Wednesday when the incoming Ladies Captain Sally Savage took over from Di Murkin.
