The Championship Presentation Dinner last Saturday turned out to be one of the best nights at the club. Nearly 90 people attended either as trophy winners or to join in the celebration of the golfing year.

  

After the 3 course meal, Club Secretary Peter Walsh gave a review of the club's tournaments both at home and away. As each event had the winners announced, those present were invited to receive their trophy from the Club Captain Malcolm Watkins. Following the applause the winners had their photographs taken with their trophy in the reading room by photographer Brian Ball.

  

The evening was closed by Ben Denbigh as one of the Chamberlin winners with Quentin Wade. Ben made a very eloquent and humorous speech which thanked the competition committee, all the club's helpers, volunteers and the club's staff, all of whom made the competitive season work so well.



Winter League 

The Weekend Winter League is up and running and the results of Week 1 are listed below. 41 pairs took part, with those playing Sunday having the best of the weather.

Please keep a look out for an email this week as the Auchterlonie Putter has been rescheduled for Sunday 23rd November. A quick reminder that this competition is over 18 holes and is Foursomes format.



Returfing the drain lines at the 1st, 7th and 14th holes has started, relief may be taken from these if your ball finishes on the returfed area. Tate's, our outside contractors, will be returning with large diggers to complete the drainage plan. Tate's will also be at the 15th hole laying more sleeper along the river bank and starting on some of the bunker work. The 15th may be closed or on a temporary green while this work is being carried out. New gates at the 10th hole are also planned for this week to replace the old ones. 

  

The greens continue to recover and improve following the disease they have had, this week the greens will be sprayed with a turf hardener. STRI plan of planting continues at the 1st and 14th holes.
