Seniors

The seniors hosted a visit from Kirby Muxloe last Monday. In brilliant golfing conditions with a warm and settled autumn day, there were no excuses beyond our recovering greens. None were needed by most of the team with the result going in our favour five matches to three.

In fact, the first five matches saw home wins with some stalwarts at the end of the field suffering surprise defeats. Looking at the actual scores it is clear that the matches were generally tight with one exception, so it could easily have slipped away from us.

Ray Kingston, who was making his debut as match day captain showed the way partnering Peter Bedwell to victory. The team have now only 2 fixtures remaining before the winter close season is upon us. Subsequent to that we shall provide a full report of the performance during the season, with an in depth breakdown based on what the record shows. Depending on the Captain allowing it we shall be naming and faming (or will it be shaming in some cases)!!!

Match Results:

Kingston and Bedwell won 3 and 2
Godden and Spokes won 2and 1
Adams and Battison won 2 and 1
Walker and Boyce won 7 and 6
Hufton and Evans won 3 and 1
Street and Whalley lost 2 and 1 (as did Gowan and Andrews and Fitzpatrick and Draper

Mark does a runner

Mark and Tim were at the Golf Trade show and Coaching Conference last week in Harrogate.

Part of the TaylorMade, adidas stand was a look at the new boost shoes. adidas donated £5 to Macmillan Cancer support for each runner who tried the new shoes and ran 100 yards.

Northants County hope to make history

Over 3,000 pairs entered the 2014 Daily Mail Foursomes at the start of the year.

The last 16 men's pairings and the last 16 women's pairings gathered at Marriott Dalmahoy, outside Edinburgh, for the three finals days played over four rounds.

Only six clubs had put their names more than once on any of the trophies. Northamptonshire County have now become the seventh after Sue Barrick and Stephanie Goodings won the Final 2&1.

Sue and Stephanie took inspiration from fellow Northamptonshire County members Kelly Hanwell and Kirstie Jennings, who won the women's trophy at the same Scottish venue just six years ago.

Finals Event results

- The Last Sixteen : Sue & Steph beat Linlithgow Golf Club 2up
- Quarter Finals : Sue & Steph beat Coombe Hill Golf Club 4&3
- Semi Finals : Sue & Steph beat St Medan (Evelyn McLellan & Elizabeth Maiden, 26) 4& 3
- Finals : Northamptonshire County beat Marriott Worsley Park Jean Kelly & Mary Finney, 19) 2
