County Cup 2014
The weather was certainly mixed for Saturday's County Cup, with rain showers and delays for lightening it proved a long day for the competitors. Ryan Connolly from Wellingborough managed to win by 1 from Round 1 leader Martin Conley. There were some excellent scores returned and consistent over the 2 rounds. Best of the Morning rounds went to our very own Martin Conley who shot a gross 72. Martin has spent the last 2 years in the Moulton Golf Academy. Best of the Afternoon rounds went to Patrick Ruff with a very impressive level par 70 in the worst of the conditions. Patrick won it last year and in finishing 3rd put a good defence up.
Sisters Millie & Hattie Billson were away competing in the English Girls Amateur Championship, Under 15's & Under 13's respectively last week at Copt Heath. Both girls played some excellent golf, Hattie broke 90 for the first time on day 1 and then repeated it on day 2.
Hattie was also involved in the Abraham Trophy Finals - a tournament for the most improved Girls from each County. Hattie found plenty of bunkers to occupy her and the greens being very quick caught her out on way her to a nett 80, the winner was nett 68.

Well done to George Elderton who recently won the 2nd division at Kingsthorpe in the Junior Shires Tour, with an impressive 39 points. Well done to Katie Amos who won Sundays round of The Junior Shires Mini Tour with a nett 19 (9 hole competition) and is keeping a healthy lead at the top of the 9 hole Order of Merit.

Club member Alan Wrigley and partner Darrel Gibson (13) from Burton on Trent GC won the Audi Regional final at The Belfry on the Brabazon course last week with 41 points. Next the National finals held over 3 days at Bowood in September. From which the top 2 pairs go to the world finals in Dubai at the Jumeirah GC to represent England.
Fellow club member Tony Benn also qualified by finishing 3rd with his partner.
