Drainage Works
Several members have enquired about the work being undertaken around the clubhouse and car park. Contractors are on site adding drains to stop and divert the water that comes down the car park during rain storms. The improvements should stop the entrance to the club house from flooding during heavy rainfall.

Men's Scratch Team at home V Wellingborough
It was hot at home for our 2nd place men's scratch team as they played 1st place in the league Wellingborough. If Wellingborough won they were all but guaranteed to be Champions. However, that was not to be the case with a home victory of 5 ½ - 2 ½.
The victory now puts the team in 2nd place with an away match to Peterborough Milton awaiting them for their final game on Sunday 10th August.

Need a fade?
Since the last report there have been 2 matches, firstly away at The Leicestershire and then at Home to Ashridge with one win and one defeat recorded.
The Leicestershire match saw a defeat by 4 matches to 2 the individual matches were;
Dennis Walker and David Adams halved
David Alston and Steve Battison halved
Roger Brady and Alan Boyce lost 4 and 3
Nick Godden and Paul Osborne won 2 and 1
John Roberts and Peter Darby lost 4 and 3
Frank Fitzpatrick and Rob Spokes lost 4 and 3
Paul Osborne was making his debut just having retired and discovering a new lease of life! How long will he keep his unbeaten record? Watch this space. Overall a good day on a well presented course with a disappointing result. Roger Street is on record suggesting this was a very strong team but it seems not strong enough! Match summary therefore 'could do better' a familiar criticism to most of us!!
The Ashridge match saw us taking a lead into the return match having won away 10 days previous. This time we won more comprehensively by 5 matches to 1. The results were:
Peter Cooch and Malcolm Watkins won 2 and 1
Roger Street and Rob Spokes won 2 and 1
Nick Godden and David Alston lost 2 and 1
Ian Kennedy and Steve Battison won 5 and 4
Ray Kingston and Frank Ainger won 6 and 4
Dennis Walker and Terry Butcher won 4 and 2
The overall home and away aggregate being 8.5 to ,3.5
The Captain takes away with him a 100 percent record from his 2 'guest' appearances no doubt helped on the way by his vice!
David Alston was quick to point out that this was his first defeat of the season, we can assure him that will be taken into account when the selection committee next meet!!
Team sheets have now been posted for Kingsthorpe Woburn Burford and Frilford so please confirm availability either by way of a tick on the posted sheet in the clubhouse or email to Roger.
There may be a number of members disappointed at not making these fixtures which include some of our better venues. However please bear in mind that most of those picked will have earned their place by being available and playing in the home fixture earlier in the year.
