Charity Starts at home
The clubs biggest charity fund raising event of the year is on Monday. Unfortunately members have not supported it in the same way this year with only 36 teams entered to date, down from the normal 44 teams. Tee times are still available for late entries between 8am and 9am. A great day to entertain corporate guests or friends you owe day out to.

Sue Barrick and Steph Goodings won their Round 5 match against Abbotsley GC by 2/1 This is their first ' out of the County' match - so they are doing hugely well and we wish them all the good luck in the world for their next match - as yet unknown....
Now the summer holidays are upon you, there is plenty of golf available for you, starting with the NGU Order of Merit.

Seniors/Ladies Texas Scramble
The Seniors and the Ladies Section had their annual get together on 30th June.
The format as in recent years was a mixed Texas Scramble with each team consisting of two players from each section. Nine teams took part and in fine weather there were some very good and generally close scoring. Sensibly the teams had been selected so that each team had very similar handicaps with each of them ranging between 15.2 and 16.2.
The winners were the team of Dennis Walker, David Whalley,Ruth Corby and Neeta Messom with an excellent score of 54.8(gross 71).
In 2nd place on count back with a score of 58.8(gross 74)were the team of John Roberts,Peter Cooch,Di Murkin and Sally Savage.
They were therefore followed in by Rob Spokes,Ross Greenhill,Bob Andrews and Denise Bellamy-Walton.
You will note that one of those guys played as a woman(because of a late withdrawal)it is not recorded which!
After the play and despite being outranked in his team ,being with a captain and two vice captains,John Roberts took the floor and waxed lyrical to excellent and entertaining affect!!
A good time was seen to be had by all

Club Members Malcolm Evans and Mike Abbotts won the Luffenham Heath Seniors Better Ball Open with a total of 42 points last week. Comments were made about their smart dress and matching ties. To which Malcolm replied:
