Greetings golfers,

Welcome to another exciting edition of our weekly newsletter. From course records to golfing habits we do and don't recommend, this week's newsletter is a must read for all golfers! We have lots happening in the shop at the moment too, so be sure to pop your head in next time you're here and take a look around.

Round up

The Seniors visited Woburn for the this seasons return fixture. They were carrying with them a one hole lead gained in the home leg of the annual Brampton Ram challenge.

Given that our record against Woburn in this comp is very good there was some confidence in the camp. We carry a significant lead from the matches held over the past twenty years the score being 17 wins to 8 losses.

Unfortunately at the end of play our captain had to announce a 5.5 to 0.5 loss. Mention needs to given therefore to Ray Kingston who with his partner got our half point thus avoiding an absolute whitewash.

Later in the week the match against Burford had to be postponed because of the horrific weather. The fixture is likely to be played in September if a date can be agreed.

On the course

We've had a great strike from the overseeding 12 days ago. Dimple seeding bent is difficult to identify on the surface, but if you know where to look there's plenty germinating.

We have a busy run from now until the beginning of September with successive weeks of competitions.

This week:

- Strim bunkers,
- Strim river,
- Divot tees,
- Spray fairways, tees and greens.
- The grass is growing quickly after the recent rainfall, so there is plenty of mowing to catch up with.

Summer camps

Please find below details of our Summer Golf Camps, these are aimed at our 9 hole & Colt course juniors alike. I'm sure you can see they offer our juniors a great opportunity to develop their golf.

After lunch the juniors will then head off to play a fun competition around their relevant course whilst being supervised by adult members (we thank these members for giving up their time & supporting junior golf).

Dates:
- Thursday, 17 August (Mark)
- Thursday, 24 August (Mark)
- Thursday, 31 August (Adam)

Times:
9am - Meet at the Pro Shop
9am-10:30am - Short Game Coaching
10:30am-11:00am - Break
11:00am-12:30pm - Long Game Coaching
12:30pm-13:30pm - Lunch
13:30pm - Afternoon Play (Colt Course, allow 90 minutes for play, 9 Holes allow for 2 hours)

Cost £20 per child (half price for second child from same family)

Juniors – Can’t you beat the Pro?

Please find attached a fun challenge we have put together for your summer golf. The main aim being to get our juniors playing together more often to develop our junior section and their golf.

There is no need to book your place, this is a roll up, and we hope you can make the dates!

Congratulations go to Paul!

Our Touring Professional Paul Broadhurst secured the Scottish Senior Open title at the weekend for a second time with a three-stroke victory at Renaissance Club.

Paul won this title on his European Senior Tour debut in 2015, carded rounds of 66-67-67 to finish three shots ahead of Australia’s Mike Harwood.

Paul now lies 8th in the European Order of Merit and 25th on the Champions Tour in the USA.
