Bostock Trophy (Gross) Winner -

George Mobbs (Nett) Winner -
Rhys Taylor - 67, 72 - 139
Saturday's Club championships provided a tough test of our member's physical and mental endurance on a firm and bouncy course that saw winds pick up throughout the day. After 18 holes
Paul Godding led the way with a 1 over 71, closely trailed by
Rhys Taylor who shot a fantastic 72 nett 67. The afternoon saw winds pick up and scoring rise but despite the tougher conditions
Paul shot an impressive 2 under 68 to seal the gross event. Whilst
Rhys held his nerve to shoot a 77 2nd round and secure the George Mobbs Nett prize and get a significant cut.

I'm absolutely delighted to say that Northants County beat Kingsthorpe away today 4 - 3 in a very closely contested match in blustery conditions. It was a very exciting finish, down to the very last game which went on to the 19th hole. This critical result means that we have made it through to the semi-finals to be played in early August.
I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all those who have played in the matches, been reserves and given support over the last few months. It has been much appreciated and makes a huge difference.
Kind regards,
Di
A very happy Cecil Leitch Captain!
Congratulations to
Ben Jones who won The Henry Cooper last week.
Ben opened up with rounds of 69, 69 before a course record 63 in the third round pulled him away.
Ben's final round of 69 gave him a 10 shot victory.
In doing such,
Ben recorded the lowest total score for The Henry Cooper, a course record and reduced his handicap to +3.4.
13 juniors played in the 18 hole Junior Club Champs on Sunday. Both the Gross (The Allitt Cup) and the Nett (The Jones Cup) were fiercely contested.
The Allitt Cup -
Liam McNeela led
Charlie Salter for most of the day and after 15 holes
Liam was 4 under par with
Charlie chasing hard. As
Liam stumbled through 16 and 17,
Charlie seized the advantage to finish 3 under par and win the Gross by 2 from
Liam.
The Jones Cup saw three players tie with nett 68 -
Oliver Botterill,
Elijah Woodward and
Harry Oddy.
Harry Oddy pipped
Elijah to the win, courtesy of a better back 6 holes.
Oliver missed it as Runner Up as Back 9 scores were compared.
The 9 hole Cup was contested well with all 4 players finishing under their handicap. But, it ultimately came down to two brothers with only the last 3 holes splitting them apart. Both
Aidan and
Joe Jaggard finished with 23 points, the same back 9 but
Joe popped his elder brother courtesy of an impressive par on 9a. Well done boys!
The Champs with their trophies!
The Seniors most recent matches have seen a progressive improvement in performance and results following the disappointment last reported.
Firstly they stopped the rot which had crept in with a halved match at home to Stratford. Not the result we would expect at home but it helped steady the ship. This was followed by a really well earned half at Longcliffe. It has been some years since we have avoided defeat in Loughborough. That trip usually sees us coming home empty handed. Well done to match Captain Ray Kingston and his team.
Finally we really hit form in winning heavily 5 matches to 1 against The Leicestershire. The record for the season now shows 6 wins, 2 halves and 2 defeats. The target of 20 wins looks a way off but is not impossible! There are 18 fixtures to go after all!
