Back in the year 2000, the Millennium Bowl started and was played between 5 Clubs – Brocton Hall, Stratford on Avon, Kedleston Park, The Leicestershire and ourselves. The clubs take it in turns to host the other 4 clubs but home advantage does not always prove the most positive part of the team as we were not successful when we hosted the event during the Centenary year in 2009. However, all comes to he who waits and this year we managed to win the trophy on the 30th May. The weather set fair after a really wet week and the course was playing long and the rough was an area to avoid but our team of 12 managed to play really well as a team and finished in first place beating second placed The Leicestershire by 28 points – the team score averaged 33.4 which was quite an achievement.
On the course.
This week will see the Reduction in Height Of cut on the greens to 3.5mm. You may also notice some small holes in the greens as they are Pencil tined. The semi rough that has been so punishing during the last couple of wet weeks is being raked with a special machine. The longer rough will be scarified. Also following the rain the staff will be pushing the sand around the bunkers to try and even out the depth.

The Junior section were out on Sunday for a Stableford in the sun shine. 2 competitions one for the 18 hole players and one for the 9 hole players. It was encouraging to see numbers increase for the 18 hole competition.
Marion Peel and the club would like to thank all the 9 hole helpers & parents for their continued support. Without their help these competitions wouldn’t be such a success.

The world’s best young golfers ages 5-18 descend upon East Lothian, Scotland for the prestigious U.S. Kids Golf European Championship. Approximately 550 players from 35 nations compete in Europe’s premier junior golf tournament to showcase the next generation of stars.
The championship is held on many of Scotland’s historic golf courses in East Lothian, including Gullane, Craigielaw, Luffness New and Longniddry.
10 year old club member Max Faulkner won his age group. In the 11 year olds Joseph Quinn tied 25th.

Our Pro-Am is just six weeks away and the entry numbers at this stage are slightly ahead of this time last year. If you are planning to enter a team I would urge you to do so as soon as possible, in order to secure your preferred tee time.
