Greetings from Tim, Mark, Adam, Ben & John
Winter Programme starts
This year's winter work has started with the bunker refurbishment to the right of the 12th hole. The hole may be out of action while the work is being carried out.
Over the past week you might have seen the Greenstaff working on the greens; they have been using a machine called the AirG2 aerator which injects compressed air to 12" deep causing a fracturing effect of the compacted rootzone, with no surface disruption. Air is injected vertically and horizontally over an area of 5ft. All this helps to aerate the greens which are part of our winter course programme.
This week:
- Topdress greens.
- Finish preparing stripped areas for turfing.
- Start bunker work on 10th hole.
- Prepare frost holes.

Rob Hay

Liz Draper Our final Seniors Match for 2016 was on Monday last at home to Staverton Park GC, played in sunshine for the most, with the course as good as it's been all season and the greens running at a good speed, our visitors were very impressed with the course and the dinner afterwards, so thanks to all our club staff for making this day a good one all round.
Our Match Day Captain
Paul Phillips with his partner
Mike Neal got us off to a good start with a 4 and 3 win, but by all accounts
Mike played all the golf against I might add a very strong visitors pair.
As usual and always a most reliable pairing for us,
Roger Brady with
Peter Darby came home again 4 and 3, I have lost count how many times
Peter D has appeared in our write ups on here, for the positive I might add.
Another solid win by an excellent pairing of
Dennis Sleath with
Nick Godden by again 4 and 3......
Nick coming in the team literally at the last minute to get us out of a pickle.
The 2 W's,
William Wells and
David Whalley came a very close second by just 1 down at the last, so I can't say they were 'all at sea' if you get my drift.
Our 2 left handers
Rob Spokes and
Malcolm Pounds also came a close second on the day by just 2 down, but thanks goes to
Malcolm P for helping us out yet again at the very last minute to save us further blushes of being short of players.
Finally a big welcome back to
Chris Cook after 12 months of several operations from his re constructed shoulder, a new knee and also a back op,..........our Bionic Man was playing his first competitive game in 13 months, and partnered by yours truly so trust you will excuse me for just these few lines and a little glory re our match.........we were 3 down standing on the 14th tee with our visitors having played all the golf, then yours truly parred in and we just squeezed home by 1 up.
Roger Street Last week we gave you the news and results from the Auchterlonie Putter competition for the Juniors. We now have the photos from the day.
