Our match against Frilford at their course saw us narrowly beaten 3.5 to 2.5 yet retain this version of the Brampton Buck. The overall score being 7 to 6.
A couple of good performance, Ray Kingston and Peter Darby held their end up as is now usual but Ray has to stop being carried according to sources!
Other winners were Nigel Kay and Steve Battison with a valiant half for Ron Morell and David Adams.
There was a heavy defeat for the Ron and Roger (surnames withheld to avoid embarrassment)!
We then played Longcliffe at home and won comfortably 6 to 2. Match captain David Whalley and his partner David Alston had by all accounts a lucky win but they were playing low handicap opposition! Rob Pearman and John Cordner excelled with an 8 and 7 drubbing of their opposition.
William Shearer had a debut loss with William Wells but it was close, and it was a shame for Neville Morris who was a late sub and wished he hadn't been as he and partner Ian Kennedy were well beaten.
Dennis Walker.
