Greetings from Tim, Mark, Adam, Ben & John.
Junior Open 2016
A sunny Monday gave the juniors an opportunity to put in some low scores. Thomas Sandiford nett 61 showed how lessons, practise and more time to play can reduce your handicap.

2016 has been a very good year for the Cecil Leitch team. In spite of having tremendous opposition in the matches we managed to win our division which was excellent.
Having won this we qualified for the semi-finals which were held on the 9th August at Brampton Heath Golf Club. We were drawn against Overstone Park. The team was
Mary Wetherly, Kate James, Sue McRae, Laura Steedman, Viv McManus, Geeta Patel &
Ursula Morris.
Although our girls played very well, sadly we lost 5 games to 2. This is a great disappointment, as over the past 4 years we have reached the semi-finals on 3 occasions and the final once, and we were hoping to reach again. Hopefully we shall achieve this very soon.
The final will be held on Wednesday, 14 September at Kettering Golf Club which will be contested between current holders Whittlebury Park and Overstone Park.
Heather Williams Team Captain
Seniors The dip in form over recent weeks continued last week. Defeats were suffered at both Woburn and Burford. Woburn was a particularly heavy defeat with a score line of 6 to 1. Our only point being provided by the reliable pairing of
Peter Darby and
Ray Kingston.
The Duchess course was magnificent condition with the greens running at 10.5 and difficult to cope with. The consolation was the excellent dinner and convivial atmosphere despite having to concede the Brampton Ram Trophy at the presentation The Burford match was much closer at 3.5 to 2.5 but a defeat nevertheless.
Peter Darby was again in a winning match this time with the match captain
Roger Brady. We suspect a drug test would be appropriate to find what he is on especially as between the Woburn and Burford matches he was seen with the Botolph gang on our course making it 3 days in a row.
Again the course was in great condition and in the view of our captain
Roger Street the best he has ever seen it. A lengthy trip is well worth it when the course and company are so enjoyable.
Dennis WalkerJuniors Underwood DriverThe Juniors played against the Committee last week for the Underwood Driver. This was donated by
Graham Underwood following his year as Captain to be played for as an annual match.
The Juniors took the bragging rights with a 3 - 1 victory this year.

This week:
Monday - Topdress greens and approaches.
Monday - Overseed greens, we have a little seed remaining form the maintenance week. Since we have had a good take up last week it is worth doubling up.
- Spray graminicide in roughs.
- Strim gorse and tree copses.
- Spray brambles - depending upon wind strength.
The irrigation system is proving a little problematic at the moment, so a week of running repairs.
The seed germination is already showing, interesting to see how quickly the greens have recovered.

Paul Broadhurst
We did not have the opportunity to see much of
Paul in last week's US Senior Open on Sky. With a day lost to rain and
Paul not at his best finishing 37th his TV coverage was limited. This week he returns to Scotland to defend his Scottish Senior Open title.
