Course news

Recovery Week

Following last week's maintenance the greens have started their recovery. Green fees will remain at 50% OFF for another week as a good will gesture while the greens recover.

On the course this week the Greenstaff will be spraying greens, tees and fairways. They will continue to rake and collect rough as well as collecting gorse seed. Divoting tees, range tee and landing areas are also part of this week's work as well as digging out and repairing irrigation burst.

Health and Safety

  • Green Keeper Tom was hit by golf ball whilst cutting 11th fairway. This is not acceptable under the etiquette of the game as well as dangerous and potentially fatal.

Greens

  • HOC 3.6mm, Groomers set at 3mm. Raised to 4mm following aeration.
  • Mowing 7 days a week.
  • Increase in hand cutting.
  • All greens hollow cored and gradened. Approximately 5 tonnes per green.
  • All greens overseeded with pure bent grass.

Tees

  • HOC 8mm

Fairways

  • HOC 12mm.
  • Wetting agents have reduced speed high spots burn off.

Rough

  • Course rough has been cut. Extra treatments continue this month.

Handicap League Team - Update

We have now finished our League Matches for the season finishing 4th in a very tight and competitive league with Cold Ashby GC progressing to the semi's.

We lost two very close matches with Cold Ashby by 9-10 at home and 6-8 away, this was the deciding factor for us in not reaching the semi finals.

May I thank all 32 players who represented the club, many of whom have never before played in this type of match play golf and also never represented our club before.

Video of the week

There's always going to be an element of luck with any hole-in-one, but this is something else! Sadly for Thomas Bjørn, it won't go down as a competitive ace.. Still… worth a watch.

Luckiest ever hole-in-one?
