Annual Captain v Vice Captain Match
Please be advised that the Annual Captain v Vice Captains match will take place on Saturday, 30 April.
The maintenance team have been busy at work for the long summer approaching. With Easter events just around the corner the dogwood at the 15th hole has been cut back. We have also started to cut back all the brambles around the course, to minimise the damage if you ever need to dig for your balls!
The aim this week for the maintenance team is to get the remaining bunkers on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd holes back in play. There is also one turfed bunker on the 17th that will have sand added soon. Otherwise all other bunkers are now in play.
The summer course will be set up again this coming Thursday, 24 March, and new golf balls were put into the range dispensar on Monday for you all to get your practice in.
If anyone has any ideas what to do with the old range balls, then please do not hesitate to contact Rob, otherwise they are going in the skip!
STRI Ecology
The STRI will be returning to the Club on the Tuesday, 19 April. It's been 3 years since Bob Taylor visited the club to help write the original Environment Management Plan and with the hard work carried out during that period, there is now an opportunity to revisit the plan and develop it further.
During the 3 years, there has been not only extensive management of the gorse around the course, but also a number of projects to remove the scrub and reinstate grassland, thin a number of tree copse to improve the habitat for the remaining tree species and a considerable amount of tree planting of more suitable tree species to suit our golf course environment.
The timetable of events for the visit on the Tuesday, 19 April is:
- Members Course Walk - 3pm
- Presentation - 7pm
With last week's green speeds catching many people out, it's worth noting that the last few places remaining for our upcoming Aimpoint Putting Clinic.
The afternoon class is now full but there are still spaces remaining for the morning class. Don't miss out on your chance to read your home course greens better, and improve your scores and handicap this summer!
